Our Shade Sails are made from knitted polyethylene monofilament and tape. The knit pattern in the shadecloth is important to allow evenness of stretch in both warp and weft directions. When joined to cover larger areas than the cloth width, a French seam is used with 2 rows of stitching 25mm apart
The edges of the Shade Sail are curved and hemmed with a seat-belt webbing, either 25, 32, or 50mm wide (depending on the size of the sail). All stitching is done with a bonded polyester thread as it has a good UV stabilization.
The corners are reinforced and sewn to a stainless steel "D" ring or shackle. Large sails have a 12mm round bar galvanised corner fitting.
Each sail is individually designed and patterned. The sails are fitted on an even slope or a hypar (twisted) shape with the low sides to the side of the hot afternoon sun. The sails are not waterproof, however 
if angled correctly, most heavy rain will run off and that which penetrates is like a fine mist.
The sails are normally connected to galvanised steel posts set in concrete footings. They can be connected to existing structures if sufficient support is in place or added. Often the posts are angled back away from the centre of the sail because any deflection in the post is not seen as easily and more importantly the force is transferred down the post into the substantial footing.

Waterproof sails in vinyl and canvas type fabrics are also available. In most cases, this requires larger steel posts, footings, connections, and a landscape or drainage plan due to the additional weight from wind and rain.

Enviro Ports are supported by galvanised corner posts and an under cover frame which forms a central hip as the cover is raised and tensioned.

Structures with cables in the outside hem often cause wear or looseness due to different stretch rates. Enviro Ports have a smooth, round, steel pipe frame in the hem of the cover so there is enough strength for light weight bistro blinds to be added, mostly used for wind protection, however the strength of the structure itself withstands strong wind.
As can be seen from this photo showing the detail of the connection when Enviro Ports are installed in pairs, there is a very small deflect due to the side pipe in the hem.
Waterproof covers are available using waterproofed shadecloth.

The Shade House half is in the front while the Hot House in at the rear. Inside there is a separate door with vent for the hot house, as well as a vent in the rear wall. The standard size of the Dual House is 2.4m x 3.6m (8' x 12') and the height is 2.15m (7').
